GM Unveils Innovative Eyes-Off Driving Technology, Conversational AI, and Integrated Software Platform

At the GM Forward media event in New York, General Motors presented groundbreaking innovations integrating manufacturing scale, AI, and software to transform vehicles into intelligent assistants. CEO Mary Barra announced plans for eyes-off driving, set to debut in the 2028 Cadillac ESCALADE IQ, supported by 600,000 miles of mapped hands-free roads and extensive real-world deployment data. Vehicles will soon feature Google Gemini’s conversational AI, allowing natural interactions. A new centralized computing platform will enhance vehicles’ capabilities, offering up to 35 times more AI performance and 10 times greater over-the-air update capacity. GM is also advancing robotics through its Autonomous Robotics Center, developing smart systems for manufacturing and improving safety. Additionally, GM’s electric vehicles will soon offer bi-directional charging for homes, starting with its GM Energy Home System in 2026.
