YouTube Introduces AI-Powered Likeness Detection Tool to Combat Deepfakes and Safeguard Creators’ Identities ~ My Mobile India

YouTube has launched an innovative AI-powered likeness detection tool to help creators manage misuse of their face and voice in videos. To access this feature, eligible creators must verify their identity using a government ID and a video selfie. Once verified, they can view flagged deepfake content on a dedicated dashboard, allowing them to request removal or archiving of impersonating videos. This tool targets YouTube Partner Programme members initially, with plans for broader access in the future. Positioned under the Content ID menu, it integrates deepfake monitoring with existing copyright management systems. Creators can deactivate the feature anytime, after which YouTube will cease scanning for deepfakes within 24 hours. This roll-out follows pilot testing initiated in December 2024 and continues to enhance detection efficacy. YouTube emphasizes user data security and enabling creators to maintain control over their likenesses.
