Apple to Invest $1 Billion Annually in Google’s Custom Gemini AI for Enhanced Siri Capabilities, According to Reports

Apple is set to significantly enhance Siri with a custom version of Google’s Gemini AI model, according to Bloomberg. This collaboration is projected to cost Apple approximately $1 billion annually, with the new Siri, codenamed Linwood, launching in spring 2026 as part of iOS 26.4. The Gemini model boasts 1.2 trillion parameters, vastly outperforming Siri’s existing 150-billion-parameter system, thereby improving context understanding and complex data processing. Google’s Gemini will specifically handle Siri’s summarization and planning tasks while ensuring user privacy by operating on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers, separate from Google’s infrastructure. Although this partnership is viewed as a temporary fix while Apple develops its AI model, the tech giant intends to keep the collaboration low-profile, with Google acting as an unseen technology provider. Surveillance in Siri’s features will retain some components of Apple’s proprietary AI technologies.
