Divine is a new app aimed at reviving the spontaneous six-second videos popularized by Vine, focusing on human-generated content without AI involvement. Launched recently, Divine quickly attracted 10,000 users for its iOS beta testing. The app hosts 170,000 archived Vine videos, preserving the nostalgia and creativity of the original platform (2013-2017). Developed by Evan Henshaw-Path and backed by Jack Dorsey, Divine prioritizes authenticity in a social media environment overrun by AI-generated content. Key features include automatic looping, a maximum video’s length of six seconds, and user-created curated lists. Divine enforces strict content guidelines, boasting a zero-tolerance policy for illegal material and using a verification system called ProofMode. Creators can monetize their content through tips, Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, and subscriber features. Unlike the original Vine, Divine operates on a decentralized model, ensuring it remains independent and secure from corporate shutdowns. For more, visit divine.video.
