While he maintained control, the AI quickly organized activities, showcasing that while AI can generate ideas and plans, it still struggles with real-world execution. Research from Carnegie Mellon highlighted that top-performing AI agents fail to complete office tasks 70% of the time. Ratliff’s startup aimed to develop a humorous “procrastination engine” called Sloth Surf. Despite the agents generating various marketing plans, their efforts often felt disconnected from reality. The experiment illustrated that, despite industry claims of imminent AI dominance, the technology is far from replacing human workers entirely. Ratliff concluded that while AI can assist creatively, genuine human input remains crucial for meaningful outcomes.
