Apple has integrated artificial intelligence throughout macOS, but many users prefer to control when and how these tools are utilized, opting for options like ChatGPT Atlas instead. macOS allows you to turn off Apple Intelligence entirely or restrict specific features such as Writing Tools, Mail summaries, and ChatGPT integration.
To disable Apple Intelligence, access System Settings via the Apple menu, navigate to Apple Intelligence & Siri, toggle off the Apple Intelligence option, and confirm your choice. For selective data management, you can stop apps from sending behavior data by adjusting permissions in Siri Suggestions & Privacy settings.
To disable ChatGPT usage, go to the same settings and toggle off the Use ChatGPT option. Additionally, to prevent AI-generated email summaries in the Mail app, access Settings from the Mail menu and uncheck Summarise Message Previews. This gives you comprehensive control over how AI functions on your Mac.
