CEO Highlights Trust Crisis in Talent Acquisition: Job Seekers and Recruiters Alike Caught in an ‘AI Doom Loop’

AI has transformed hiring by streamlining workflows but has also complicated the job search process for both candidates and recruiters. In a competitive labor market, candidates attempt to manipulate AI filters while recruiters face overwhelming application volumes, leading to an authenticity crisis. Only 8% of job seekers believe AI makes hiring fairer, with trust decreasing—particularly among Gen Z applicants, 62% of whom express skepticism towards AI’s role in hiring. Nearly half of job seekers are submitting more applications, contributing to an “AI doom loop” where generic, AI-generated resumes fail to differentiate candidates. Despite 41% of job seekers employing tactics like prompt injections to bypass filters, hiring managers report increased fraud concerns. While AI can enhance job matching, it often impersonalizes interviews. Experts argue that reintroducing human elements into hiring is essential to restore trust and authenticity in the recruitment landscape.
