Google’s Gemini 3: Closing the Gap with OpenAI

In ancient Greece, twin gods Castor and Pollux, known as the Dioscuri, were the patrons of sailors and warriors. Fast forward to today, and Alphabet’s latest AI chatbot, Gemini 3, pays homage to that legacy as it competes against OpenAI. Released eight months after its predecessor, Gemini 2.5, this model boasts significant advancements in coding, reasoning, visual understanding, and more. Google has rapidly scaled Gemini to 650 million users, aiming to dethrone ChatGPT’s 800 million. Analysts view Alphabet as having stronger monetization potential, especially following investment interest from Berkshire Hathaway. Despite a 50% rise this year, Alphabet trades at an attractive 26 times forward earnings compared to 30 for the S&P 500 tech sector. However, concerns about an AI bubble persist, as CEO Sundar Pichai cautions against blind trust in AI. A recent study revealed AI inaccuracies, underscoring the urgent need to approach technology with scrutiny.
