Chinese conglomerate Tencent has globally launched the Hunyuan 3D engine, designed to empower creators through advanced tools for generating AI-driven 3D assets. The engine allows users to produce high-quality 3D models from text descriptions, images, or sketches, drastically reducing production time from days to minutes by simplifying traditional workflows. Despite its potential, many game developers remain cautious about generative AI, fearing it could undermine game quality. Tencent Cloud also released the Hunyuan 3D Model API, enabling seamless integration across various industries, including gaming and marketing. Users can generate up to 20 assets daily for free, while enterprise users receive 200 credits for asset generation. Numerous enterprises in China, such as Unity China and Bambu Lab, have embraced this API. Amidst ongoing debates about AI’s impact on job security and quality, Tencent positions itself at the forefront of combining AI with game development and content creation, anticipating a shift in industry dynamics.
