Ukraine and Latvia Join Forces to Develop AI Tool for EU Legislative Integration

A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between Ukraine, the Latvian company Tilde, and Latvia’s National AI Center to develop an AI tool for adapting Ukrainian legislation to EU norms. The initiative aims to create a unified translation tool while enhancing Ukraine’s institutional capacity on its path to EU membership. This collaboration focuses on language model development, expert knowledge exchange, and implementing AI tools to facilitate the legislative process. Taras Kachka, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, emphasized the urgency of this initiative during active EU negotiations. Tilde’s platform is designed to address the specific features of the Ukrainian language, ensuring accurate translations that could eventually involve various government sectors. Additionally, Latvia’s Foreign Minister, Baiba Braže, announced €15 million in funding for drones and innovative research to aid Ukraine further. This approach aims to streamline the integration process, making it more efficient and transparent for both authorities and citizens.
