Google and OpenAI have implemented strict usage limits on their AI tools, citing high demand and limited computing resources. Google’s recent launch of the Nano Banana Pro image generation tool has prompted a reduction for free users from three to two images per day, as initially reported by 9to5Google. These limits can change frequently, and users can opt for Google AI plans for enhanced features through select Google One subscriptions. Meanwhile, OpenAI’s Sora video generation model now restricts free users to six videos per day due to significant computational strain. Bill Peebles, leading Sora, remarked that “our GPUs are melting,” indicating a shift towards monetization, as users can purchase additional access. Notably, paid ChatGPT Plus and Pro users won’t face any changes in their limits. These adjustments highlight the growing challenges of resource allocation in the burgeoning AI landscape while striving to maintain service accessibility amid skyrocketing demand.
