admin

Citigroup is significantly advancing its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives, moving from experimentation to full execution within its operations. A memo to its 200,000 employees outlined an ambitious plan to embed AI deeply into its digital transformation, spearheaded by executives Gonzalo Luchetti, Tim Ryan, and Anand Selva. The bank aims to cultivate an “AI-ready workforce,” with over 150,000 employees already utilizing in-house AI tools. Current implementations include a voice-assist AI for consumer banking and the Citi Stylus chat-based document analysis tool. Additionally, more than 2,000 staff members are participating in AI training programs, bolstered by a partnership with Google Cloud’s Vertex platform. Citigroup is also exploring agentic AI—autonomous systems capable of decision-making with minimal human intervention—signaling a shift toward intelligent operational automation. This strategy aims to enhance efficiency amid pressure for modernization, positioning AI as a core component of its business model.
