Grants Fuel AI Initiatives That Enrich Campus Life and Beyond

Clark University has unveiled its inaugural AI Innovation Grants, funded by a $50,000 contribution from the Yee Family, aimed at fostering innovative uses of artificial intelligence in diverse academic applications. The initiative, supported by the Clark AI Innovation Fund, encourages exploration in teaching, research, and campus operations. President David Fithian emphasized AI’s potential to improve institutional effectiveness and enhance community engagement. Out of 59 applications reviewed by a selection committee, eight projects were awarded grants, involving students and faculty from various disciplines such as Computer Science, Political Science, and Psychology. Notable projects include the development of AI-assisted gaming characters, advanced land change analysis, AI-driven educational media tools, and inclusive transcription technology for diverse communities. The successful recipients must complete their projects by August 2026 and share findings with the university community, contributing to a deeper understanding of AI’s transformative impact in education and research.
