Microsoft has launched the Windows 11 25H2 preview build 26220.7344 for Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels. This update primarily features the public preview of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which enhances the connectivity between AI agents and apps securely. During last month’s Ignite conference, Microsoft announced MCP’s native support, bringing two new agent connectors for Copilot+ PCs: a File Explorer Connector for accessing local files and a Windows Settings connector for easy navigation via natural language prompts. The update promises OS-level integration for seamless discoverability and control, benefiting developers and IT professionals. Additional features include Quick Machine Recovery, now enabled by default on Windows 11 Professional for non-domain devices; a Unified Update Orchestration Platform for consistent app updates; enhanced Windows MIDI Services supporting MIDI 2.0; and improved “Open with” app integration showing relevant Microsoft Store apps. Users can choose between Dev and Beta Channels for testing stability.
