AI Screening Platform Streamlines Participant Recruitment for PV Trials

Recruiting patients for oncology clinical trials faces significant challenges, especially for rare diseases. Cleveland Clinic’s recent research, presented at the 2025 American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting, highlights how the AI-driven Dyania Health’s Synapsis™ platform can transform this process. This tool identified seven times more eligible patients for a polycythemia vera trial compared to traditional methods, achieving 100% accuracy after verification by research staff. Traditional recruitment can take over 30 minutes per electronic medical record (EMR), hindering enrollment timelines. In contrast, the AI system efficiently screened 4.7 million EMRs, narrowing eligible patients to 22 within a week. This rapid identification can substantially reduce clinician workload and accelerate treatment development. Cleveland Clinic’s collaboration with Dyania Health aims to further integrate AI technology across its research enterprise, enhancing trial efficiency and patient access. With AI, clinical trials can move faster, ultimately improving patient outcomes and saving lives.
