Nearly Universal Gen AI Adoption in India, But AWS Survey Reveals Training Alone Won’t Close Skills Gap

admin

A recent study by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Access Partnership reveals that 98% of organizations in India are utilizing Generative AI tools, with many developing training plans for these technologies. The survey, involving 415 senior IT decision-makers, found that 83% have appointed a dedicated AI executive (typically a Chief AI Officer), with an additional 15% planning to do so by 2026. However, challenges persist, including limited understanding of employee skilling needs, concerns about effective implementation, and budget constraints. AWS emphasized that mere training will not suffice to close skills gaps. The report anticipated a high demand for Generative AI talent across organizations in India. To support this, AWS has invested $100 million to establish a Generative AI Innovation Center, offering free workshops and training. AWS has also committed to significantly investing in cloud infrastructure in India, reflecting its belief in the transformative potential of AI and the necessity for strategic leadership.
