Google has introduced an experimental productivity assistant, CC, through Google Labs, powered by its Gemini models. This tool provides users with a daily briefing titled “Your Day Ahead,” consolidating information from their Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar. Designed to enhance interaction, users can reply to the digest email to add tasks, search for files, save notes, or personalize the assistant’s preferences. This initiative aligns with major tech companies embedding AI assistants into productivity workflows. As email and calendar services become key testing grounds for AI, Google aims to promote user engagement and potentially drive paid subscriptions. Competing with startups like Mindy and platforms such as Read AI and Fireflies, CC leverages Google’s extensive user base, allowing effortless access to existing data without requiring third-party tools. Currently, CC is available for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US and Canada and is not yet accessible to Workspace users.
