Gemini Now Analyzes Videos to Determine Their Authenticity: Real or AI-Generated?

In response to the growing need for transparency in digital content, Google has enhanced its Gemini tool to detect whether videos, like images, are AI-generated. Following its November rollout, Gemini can now scan for invisible digital fingerprints in videos, stressing the importance of authenticity in the media landscape. Users can easily upload content and inquire if it was created by Google’s AI, although the tool’s effectiveness is limited to materials generated exclusively by Google. It struggles to identify AI-generated content from other sources. Furthermore, restrictions apply to the uploaded files, which must be no larger than 100 MB and no longer than 90 seconds. Gemini utilizes SynthID watermarks to inform users about AI elements in both audio and visuals, providing insights into content creation. This feature is now accessible in all supported languages and regions through the Gemini app on web and mobile platforms, underscoring Google’s commitment to content transparency and trust.
