Google has enhanced its SynthID Detector (@SynthID), an AI-generated content verification tool, now integrated within the Google AI “Gemini” Extensions settings. This update, announced on December 18, 2025, allows users to identify if videos uploaded to Gemini have been edited or generated by Google AI. The SynthID Detector works by detecting digital watermarks in images, videos, audio, and text produced by Google AI. Users can easily verify content by uploading a video to Gemini and querying whether it was generated by AI. The system can respond with insights, indicating the presence of SynthID in specific audio segments. Notably, videos can be a maximum of 100 MB and 90 seconds long. The SynthID functionality is globally accessible in all supported languages, making it a valuable tool for content verification and digital integrity in the realm of AI. This development underscores Google’s commitment to responsible AI practices.
