USC Partners with OpenAI to Launch AI Certificate Program This Fall

admin

The University of South Carolina (USC) has announced a $1.5 million partnership with OpenAI, making it the first institution in South Carolina to provide free enterprise access to ChatGPT starting this fall. This initiative aims to enhance academic outcomes by offering students personalized study aids and time management tools, ultimately preparing them for a workforce increasingly reliant on AI technologies. Faculty will also benefit from reduced administrative burdens through the use of ChatGPT in lesson planning and research tasks. USC emphasizes that this adoption will improve data security and position the university as a leader in integrating AI in higher education. Additionally, USC will launch an interdisciplinary undergraduate certificate program in Artificial Intelligence Literacy this fall, comprising required and elective courses that address AI capabilities and ethics. This marks the fifth certificate offered by USC, furthering its commitment to equipping students for future challenges. More details about the initiative will be shared later this summer.
