WhatsApp Trials Innovative AI Tool to Assist Users in Crafting Messages

WhatsApp is developing an AI-powered writing assistant that aims to enhance message crafting and responding within the app. Currently in beta, this feature allows users to request writing help directly in chats. By tapping an AI icon after drafting a message, users can receive suggestions for rewrites, grammar corrections, and tone adjustments—ranging from formal to humorous. This tool builds on WhatsApp’s integration of Meta’s AI technologies, which also include chatbot interactions and in-chat assistance. The current version displays a pencil icon near the send button, offering various tone options for messages. Furthermore, WhatsApp is exploring advanced AI features such as private voice conversations and direct image editing. Importantly, the introduction of a privacy layer, Private Processing, ensures that user content remains encrypted. This initiative reflects WhatsApp’s commitment to evolving into a smart communication platform while respecting user choice and privacy, allowing users to opt in or out of AI features.
