Google has introduced new generative AI features for Gmail, enhancing user experience for its over three billion users. Launched in 2004, Gmail’s evolution reflects a significant shift in email usage, with the need for efficient inbox management becoming paramount. To address this, Google has unveiled AI Overviews, which summarize lengthy email threads into concise key points, allowing users to access important information quickly without extensive scrolling.
Additionally, the ‘Help Me Write’ feature enables users to draft or refine emails effortlessly, enhancing productivity. This tool, along with Suggested Replies, will be available at no cost, while the Proofread feature is reserved for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Starting next month, Help Me Write will offer improved personalization by integrating context from users’ other Google applications. These innovations position Gmail as a proactive inbox assistant, streamlining communication and boosting user engagement.
