AI-Powered App ‘Milaap Setu’ Connects Missing Seniors with Their Families

Milaap Setu, a pilot project in Mumbai’s Thane district, aims to reunite mentally unwell elderly individuals from orphanages with their families. Developed by Project Chetna, the initiative employs AI-driven facial recognition technology to assist in locating missing persons. In India, over 100,000 elderly individuals go missing each year, with many suffering from dementia. Milaap Setu is a free and government-registered platform, accessible to the public for uploading or searching images of missing seniors. Through this innovative approach, the project seeks to address the critical issue of elder disappearance and facilitate family reunification.
