Digital Science Unveils AI Writing Tools for 20 Million Overleaf Users

Digital Science has launched an AI add-on called AI Assist for Overleaf, a leading scientific and technical writing platform. This addition, available to over 20 million research writers, enhances LaTeX writing efficiency through advanced language feedback and AI tools. Users can access AI features with limited free uses and opt for unlimited access later. Key features include:

  • AI-powered Language Tools: Context-aware suggestions for grammar, spelling, and structure, alongside tools for paraphrasing, summarizing paragraphs, and generating abstracts.

  • LaTeX Tools: Instant identification and rectification of LaTeX errors, and the ability to generate code from prompts or images.

Overleaf co-founder John Lees-Miller emphasized that AI Assist allows researchers to focus on their work, reducing time spent on formatting and writing. Digital Science CEO Daniel Hook noted that responsibly developed AI is central to enhancing researchers’ productivity in the future.
