While Anticipation for AI Agents Grows, Governance Remains Lacking

A recent Deloitte report highlights the growing adoption of agentic AI across industries, with 74% of organizations planning deployment within two years. Despite this eagerness, only 21% currently possess mature governance frameworks for autonomous agents, raising concerns about safety in physical AI applications like manufacturing and security. With 85% of companies looking to customize AI agents, trust in AI is surging, as 84% increase investments and 78% express confidence in the technology. Concurrently, the concept of “sovereign AI” gains traction, with 83% seeing it as essential for strategic planning, driven by concerns over reliance on foreign vendors. Moreover, governance gaps persist; over 80% of leaders acknowledge AI risks, yet just 25% have established governance programs. As AI integration deepens, organizations must prioritize robust governance to navigate the complexities of this rapidly evolving technology landscape, aiming for secure and responsible innovation.
