It’s clarified that the device isn’t in-ear or wearable, dispelling ongoing speculation about its nature. Speculations have ranged from a minimalist gadget to a smartphone companion. OpenAI’s cofounder, Sam Altman, has indicated that the device is neither a smartphone nor smart glasses, suggesting it functions as a helpful companion. He described it as something that “helps you get done whatever you want,” transcending the limitations of current computers and smartphones. The device’s form is still a mystery, with Altman referring to it as “my AI companion.” Following OpenAI’s $6.5 billion acquisition of io, the timeline for production remains uncertain, with no plans for advertising or sales for at least a year.
