NCCoE Unveils New AI Agent and Cybersecurity Initiatives for OT – MeriTalk

The National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) has unveiled plans to enhance identity verification for software agents and improve operational technology (OT) cybersecurity asset management as part of its 2026 initiatives. The focus is structured around four pillars: data protection, trusted enterprise, artificial intelligence (AI), and resilient embedded systems. The NCCoE aims to demonstrate identity standards applicable to AI agents, emphasizing the need for secure authorization processes. In terms of OT asset management, the center plans to develop guidelines for effective cybersecurity practices, addressing challenges such as legacy systems and diverse communication protocols. Effective asset management is underscored as crucial for evaluating risks and implementing modern security measures like zero trust. The NCCoE will invite community collaboration and public comment on its future projects. Additionally, it is finalizing publications on cyberattack recovery, data classification, securing genomic information, and strategies to mitigate ransomware threats.
