Experience Versailles: Engage in Conversations with Statues Instead of Following a Guide

admin

The Palace of Versailles has partnered with OpenAI and French startup Ask Mona to enhance visitor experiences by using AI to voice around 20 garden statues. By scanning QR codes next to these statues, visitors can engage in conversation in English, Spanish, or French. This initiative aims to introduce modern technology to the historic site, enriching the experience for its annual 8 million visitors, according to Palace director Christophe Laribeau. OpenAI’s Julie Lave emphasizes that the technology caters to a diverse audience, from cultural experts to first-time visitors. Additionally, there are developments in AI applications for art restoration, as seen in a method from MIT that repairs damaged paintings. Meanwhile, some users have reported unusual experiences with AI, such as engaging in bizarre conversations with ChatGPT. Researchers in China also assert that modern AI can mimic human cognitive functions for sorting information.
