Offline AI Solutions for Autonomous Robots

Google has launched Gemini Robotics On-Device, a new AI model designed to empower robots with local, real-time control, eliminating the need for constant internet connectivity. This innovative system is useful for environments like factory floors and remote locations where internet access may be limited. Unlike traditional cloud-based models, Gemini Robotics processes language, vision, and motor commands directly on the robot, enabling it to learn tasks—such as folding clothes or pouring liquids—by demonstrating them just 50 to 100 times. To support developers, Google offers early access to a Gemini Robotics SDK for experimentation and customization, though access is limited as it evaluates safety and performance.
