Japanese Firm Leverages AI Technology to Identify Stressed Cats

admin

Japanese company Rabo has launched a smart collar for cats, named “Catlog_,” priced at ¥14,850 ($102, with current sales at half-price). Utilizing AI, the collar monitors various feline activities—eating, drinking, sleeping, running, walking, and grooming—and relays this information to a smartphone app, enabling cat owners to track their pets from afar. Recently, Rabo enhanced its device by introducing a “stress score,” derived from a 30-day analysis of grooming habits, breathing rates, and sleep patterns, using data from over 46,000 cats. If the AI detects stress, the app sends alerts to owners, promoting timely veterinary consultations. Rabo’s initiative aims to improve both cat and owner well-being, aligning with their motto “Because nine lives are never enough.” The approach, supported by extensive data analysis, emphasizes pet health and engagement, enhancing the bond between cats and their owners.
