Telecom giant Airtel has launched an AI-powered tool in Haryana to protect customers from OTP-related bank fraud. This innovative system identifies risky scenarios and alerts users in real-time, enhancing security during banking transactions. Within two weeks, the tool will be available to all Airtel customers.
The AI tool activates fraud alerts during incoming calls flagged as suspicious, advising users not to share banking OTPs in potentially fraudulent situations. Airtel emphasizes the importance of merging AI insights with human judgment for customer safety.
CEO Shashwat Sharma noted that while OTPs play a crucial role in digital security, fraudsters exploit their urgency. The autonomous solution aims to detect and mitigate fraud at the network level, with trials proving its effectiveness. Over the past two years, Airtel has implemented various tech-led safeguards, including spam-call warnings and malicious link-blocking, to combat fraud comprehensively, ensuring customer protection in digital transactions.
