Digital Equity Africa launched two AI tools, “Bud AI” and “Future Minds,” at the recent Kids Tech Fest in Lagos, aimed at enhancing children’s safe interaction with technology. The event drew over 5,000 attendees, including children, parents, and educators, emphasizing AI, digital safety, and responsible tech use. CEO Justina Nnam Oha highlighted that Bud AI serves as a personalized learning companion for ages six to 17, featuring safety measures like parent-linked registration and activity monitoring. Future Minds offers an online AI learning community for children aged six to 16, focusing on education, creativity, and entertainment. Oha expressed a vision for nurturing the next generation of AI innovators in Nigeria, with the summit showcasing workshops on topics such as digital literacy and ethical AI. The success of the event has prompted plans for similar conferences across Nigeria, inviting state government partnerships to further support the initiative.
