Mistral AI, a leading French AI company valued at $13.8 billion, has announced its first acquisition of Koyeb, a Paris-based startup. This strategic move aims to enhance Mistral’s capabilities in AI app deployment and cloud infrastructure. Primarily recognized for its large language models, Mistral’s acquisition reflects its ambition to solidify its position as a full-stack AI provider, following the introduction of Mistral Compute, an AI cloud service. Founded in 2020, Koyeb simplifies serverless deployment for developers and recently launched Koyeb Sandboxes for isolated AI agent environments. Post-acquisition, Koyeb’s 13-member team will integrate into Mistral’s engineering division to optimize GPU usage and scale AI inference. With a focus on European enterprises, Mistral recently achieved $400 million in annual recurring revenue and is actively recruiting for further infrastructure development. This acquisition positions Mistral as a key player in the European AI landscape, enhancing its sovereign AI infrastructure capabilities.
