Tech Mahindra, a leading provider of technology consulting, has announced enhancements to Project Indus with the launch of a new education-focused Large Language Model (LLM), powered by NVIDIA. This Hindi-first model incorporates authentic Indian linguistic and cultural elements, aiming to democratize high-quality learning for millions of students in subjects like physics. Developed using advanced NVIDIA frameworks, including NeMo and NIM microservices, the LLM allows for scalability and production readiness. Innovative techniques created half a billion synthetic tokens to address data scarcity in Indian languages. Tech Mahindra’s 8-billion-parameter LLM aims to empower AI-driven education tailored to India’s unique needs. As it evolves, Tech Mahindra plans to leverage NVIDIA’s Nemotron for improved training cycles and domain specialization. This initiative highlights the urgency for sovereign AI models that cater to local languages, facilitating inclusive growth within India’s diverse educational landscape, while reinforcing Tech Mahindra’s role in the country’s digital transformation.
