Google recently unveiled a groundbreaking feature in its Gemini app, enabling users to create AI-generated music using prompts like text, images, or uploaded media. Powered by the advanced Lyria 3 model, this feature allows for the creation of 30-second tracks across various styles, including multilingual lyrics in languages such as English, Spanish, and Japanese. Users can describe concepts—like “a comical R&B slow jam about a sock finding their match”—and instantly receive a catchy, high-quality track. Additionally, the Nano Banana AI model generates cover art for these tracks. Google ensures that all music produced has a SynthID watermark for copyright protection, emphasizing originality and discouraging mimicry of existing artists. While some in the creative industry raise concerns about copyright misuse and potential monetization issues, Google aims for Lyria 3 to facilitate fun and expressive musical experiences for users aged 18 and older.
