Sarvam Launches Indus AI Chat App for Indian Users
Sarvam, a pioneering Indian AI startup, has unveiled its Indus chat app, designed for web and mobile platforms, marking its entry into the competitive generative AI landscape dominated by global giants like OpenAI and Google. This launch follows Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s praise for Sarvam’s localized AI models tailored for Indian languages at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The Indus app operates using Sarvam’s advanced 105B model, boasting 105 billion parameters, enabling voice and text interactions. Currently, the app is available in beta for users in India, with limited features, including chat history management and reasoning mode settings. Sarvam’s innovative approach aims to address the unique needs of Indian users, leading to a significant investment of $41 million from notable firms. As the app gradually rolls out amidst resource constraints, users may face waitlists during the initial phase.
