ET GBS Summit 2026: Embracing Robots and AI as Catalysts for Progress, Not Threats

In a recent session in New Delhi, Rahul Shah, managing director of Bidyut Innovation, urged students to see robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) as vital tools for national advancement instead of threats to employment. He emphasized that automated systems have long been part of daily life, using examples like air conditioners to highlight existing technology’s foundational role. Concerns about job displacement due to automation, he noted, arise from widespread fear. Shah advocated for skill development, asserting that Bidyut Innovation aims to prepare students for a technology-driven future. During his presentation, he showcased a humanoid robot, emphasizing the collaboration between humans and machines. “Robots are not going to replace humans where they are needed,” he stated, promoting the idea that technology should reduce risk in dangerous jobs. He also highlighted the importance of governance and ethical oversight to ensure responsible use of these technologies, reinforcing that technology is neutral depending on its application.
