The Pentagon’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) collaborates with the Army to implement AI-enabled coding tools for the Defense Department (DOD), improving software delivery efficiency. A call for solutions, released on February 19, aims to identify commercially available AI coding platforms that can be deployed at enterprise scale. Currently, DOD software developers lack access to these tools, hindering their productivity and innovation compared to the private sector. The CDAO emphasizes the need for solutions compatible with existing security frameworks, ensuring broad adoption across diverse environments. The deployment focuses on two modalities: Integrated Development Environment (IDE)-based coding assistance, offering functionalities like code completion and review, and Command-Line Interface (CLI)-based coding, for autonomous coding tasks with human oversight. The solicitation outlines a multi-phase submission process, with deadlines for questions and solution briefs set for late February and early March. organizations are invited to notify the contracting office of their intention to submit.
