Student Creates AI-Driven App to Discover Sports Talent in Remote Areas During National Hackathon

The Smart India Hackathon 2025 witnessed historic participation, with over 1.39 million students and 72,165 ideas submitted across various problem statements. Team AntarDrishti from Scaler School of Technology emerged as the Outstanding Winner in the Fitness and Sports category for their AI-powered sports talent assessment app. Initially focused on traffic management, the team pivoted last-minute due to competitive pressure, ultimately developing an accessible mobile solution aimed at bridging the talent gap in India’s sports ecosystem. This app enables offline fitness assessments using just a smartphone, addressing the challenges posed by limited infrastructure in rural areas. It automatically analyzes performance metrics such as strength and endurance without needing trained evaluators. The innovation enhances nationwide talent identification, empowering athletes regardless of their location. With a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh, the team plans to refine the app further and integrate it into formal sports frameworks, ensuring equal opportunities for all potential athletes.
