Generative AI tools, notably since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, have gained traction among educators. Despite their potential, adoption remains hindered by barriers such as insufficient professional development and educators’ hesitance. A webinar revealed that many teachers face a lack of clear policies on AI use, with only 13% reporting that their districts had established AI guidelines. Furthermore, 44% of educators have not received adequate training to effectively utilize AI tools. While AI offers benefits for tasks like creating exams and providing student feedback, concerns linger regarding its impact on teaching. A survey indicated that educators are divided on AI’s future effects, with 47% predicting negative outcomes. Nonetheless, 90% believe AI will change teaching practices. As AI continues to evolve, educators must learn to navigate its complexities, adopting responsible use while fostering AI literacy among students.
