ChatGPT Expands Access to Additional Data Sources—For a Price

Share

OpenAI recently launched a feature called Connectors for ChatGPT, enabling the chatbot to interact with various third-party apps and data sources for enhanced user responses. This functionality allows users to pull personal information from services like Gmail and Google Drive, enhancing the chatbot’s capability to provide personalized assistance. While this feature aims to offer a more tailored experience, it is currently available only to ChatGPT Pro users for $200/month, excluding regions with stringent regulations, like the EU.

OpenAI plans to expand Connectors access further, although the initial rollout has limited functionalities compared to what’s available in a specialized mode called Deep Research. The feature aims to foster a more integrated digital experience, potentially positioning ChatGPT as a “super-assistant”. As more applications allow integration, it is anticipated that the ecosystem of Connectors will grow, with competitors also likely to develop similar functionalities.
