UK ALT Hub Introduces Innovative AI Literacy Course for Faculty and Staff

The University of Kentucky has launched the Artificial Intelligence Literacy and Training (ALT) Hub, providing an online course for faculty and staff to enhance AI literacy. This initiative is part of the Commonwealth AI Transdisciplinary Strategy (CATS AI), aimed at promoting the responsible use of AI in education and research. The course, derived from the undergraduate TEK 100 curriculum, consists of six modules focusing on essential AI skills:

  1. AI in Your World: Introduces AI vocabulary and brainstorming techniques.
  2. The AI Co-Pilot: Teaches effective AI prompting strategies.
  3. The Expert Adversary: Encourages critical thinking and idea validation using AI.
  4. The Hallucination Detective: Develops fact-checking abilities.
  5. Personal Responsibility with AI: Covers responsible AI practices, privacy, and academic integrity.
  6. Navigating AI’s Societal Impact: Explores AI’s broader societal implications.
