AI Adoption in the Workplace Stagnates Due to Insufficient Education and Support

admin

A Boston Consulting Group survey indicates that enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) is stalling, particularly regarding the much-discussed “agents.” Major barriers include insufficient training, limited access to tools, and lack of support from leadership. Despite 72% of workers using AI regularly, frontline employees’ adoption has plateaued at 51%, down from 52% the previous year. Many lack adequate training, with only a third feeling prepared for AI transformation. Almost 40% cite inadequate tools, leading many, especially Gen Z, to bypass corporate restrictions for AI solutions, raising security concerns. While companies are utilizing basic AI tools like ChatGPT, only 22% are innovating new processes with AI. Notably, 41% of respondents fear job loss, a sentiment heightened in regions where AI usage is prevalent. Additionally, only 13% of companies have integrated agentic AI into workflows, suggesting a need for better understanding and education to alleviate fears and promote collaboration.
