AI Apps Raising Ethical Concerns by Undressing Women Without Consent

AI nudification apps allow users to easily create fake sexualized images, particularly of women and minors, leading to a surge in online exploitation, blackmail, and abuse. With over 15 million downloads since 2022, these tools have been largely used to bully victims, causing significant harm. Research indicates that 99% of non-consensual deepfakes target women, and many minors are at risk, highlighting the urgent need for regulation. Various countries are implementing laws to combat this issue, such as the Take It Down Act in the US, while proposals in the UK aim to impose penalties on creators. Despite regulatory efforts, the spread of these tools is challenging to contain. Public education, strong HR policies, and technological safeguards like watermarking are essential to mitigate the consequences of nudification apps. Society must act decisively to prevent these harmful technologies from becoming normalized in daily life.
