admin

The “State of AI-Powered Cybercrime Threat and Mitigation Report 2025” reveals that AI is involved in approximately 82.8% of phishing scams in India. Released by the Global Initiative for Restructuring Environment and Management and Tekion, the report highlights a significant rise in cybercrime, particularly in rural Karnataka, where incidents nearly doubled from 2022 to 2024. With India being the second-most targeted nation for cryptocurrency-related attacks, the report notes alarming increases in malware, ransomware, and IoT attacks. Vulnerable groups, including seniors, women, and children, are increasingly affected by online scams and harassment. Bengaluru saw a 77% increase in cybercrime cases. The document mentions “cyber slavery,” where victims are coerced into cybercriminal activities, often operating from lawless regions. To combat these threats, the report advocates for enhanced digital literacy, improved police training, workplace cybersecurity education, and advanced AI-based threat detection systems.
