The Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) has launched an innovative e-research library at Rouse Avenue courts to enhance legal work through artificial intelligence. Inaugurated on July 5 by law minister Kapil Mishra and named after former BCD chairman BS Sherawat, the library features advanced tools like SCC Online, Manupatra, and the AI platform Lucio, alongside various legal e-books accessible via 15 desktops. With an initial funding of Rs 20 lakh, the library aims to enable lawyers to conduct research efficiently and is planning for remote access across the country. Advocate Neeraj emphasized the importance of this initiative, highlighting AI’s role in streamlining legal research for court practitioners. Furthermore, the ‘Adalat AI’ tool, introduced in July 2024, automates courtroom transcription processes, addressing the shortage of stenographers by digitizing proceedings. This technology is already operational in eight states, promising significant improvements in judicial workflows.
