Louie, a 2-year-old ginger Maine Coon, was missing for 11 days before being joyfully reunited with his family through Petco Love’s Love Lost program. Sharon Furze, 85, and her husband, discovered Louie and his brother, Sundance, had escaped from their Ridgefield, Washington home. While they found Sundance quickly, Louie’s health condition fueled their concern for his safety in the wild. Utilizing Love Lost’s AI photo-matching technology, which identifies lost pets among shelter records and community posts, they created a profile for Louie. After 11 anxious days, a good Samaritan spotted Louie, leading the Furzes back to him. Despite being underweight and dirty, Louie returned home, transformed and more affectionate than ever. Since its launch, Love Lost has successfully reunited over 170,000 pets with their families. Petco Love emphasizes the importance of early registration in their database to facilitate quicker reunions, highlighting the emotional impact of reuniting lost pets.
