AI Tool Raksha: A Beacon of Hope in the Fight Against Rising Crimes Against Children

In 2023, Assam saw a significant surge in crimes against children, with cases rising to 10,174, according to the National Crime Records Bureau. This alarming trend has prompted urgent concerns regarding child safety in the state. In response, Just Rights for Children introduced an AI-driven child protection tool named Raksha during the ‘Prosperity Futures: Child Safety Tech Summit,’ part of the AI Impact Summit 2026. Designed to combat child trafficking, marriage, and online sexual abuse, Raksha utilizes AI to analyze crime patterns, identify at-risk families, and monitor organized networks in real time. Union Minister Jitin Prasada emphasized the need for technology to safeguard vulnerable populations, asserting that Raksha enhances the child protection framework and fosters a safer digital landscape. Experts agree that AI solutions like Raksha could significantly bolster prevention, protection, and justice mechanisms in Assam, responding proactively to the sharp rise in child-related crimes.
