Voters can now utilize AI to scrutinize the activities of 150 members of parliament, thanks to BeleidsRadar’s new AI assistant launched ahead of the October 29 elections. This innovative tool efficiently navigates over 1 million government documents, providing users with direct answers to questions like, “What has my MP done for the climate?” or “Which party asked the most about healthcare personnel?” Maarten Sukel, an AI entrepreneur with a PhD from the University of Amsterdam, emphasizes transparency, offering clear source references for all data. Unlike general AI chatbots, which may lack reliability, this tool is designed with accountability in mind, furnishing verified information and suggesting users verify claims. During the election period, the service is free, allowing structured searches by theme or interactive conversations with the AI for deeper insights. While the focus is on incumbent MPs, the AI can also access information from local councils and election programs for new candidates.
