Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming daily life and business practices, exemplified by Yukino Baba, an associate professor at the University of Tokyo and a specialist in computer science. Currently researching human-AI collaboration, Baba developed Illumidea, an AI-driven web application released in January 2025. This tool uses ChatGPT to sort anonymous opinions in group discussions, enhancing decision-making by illuminating valuable insights that might be overshadowed by more dominant voices. As discussions evolve, Illumidea enables a more inclusive dialogue, assigning weight to minority perspectives. Baba’s journey into AI began in her childhood, fueled by her fascination with computers. Her future projects include developing partner AI for researchers, designed to propose hypotheses and assist in experiments, ultimately aiming to enhance academic collaboration. By leveraging AI technologies, Baba aspires to promote effective communication and constructive interactions, addressing societal challenges through inclusive participation and shared ideas.
